Studio apartment in the very center, near the square, town hall and church

This holiday apartment is located in a 460-year-old traditional wooden house in the middle of the village of Appenzell. It is furnished in the style of bygone days.
The windows overlook a square with a town hall, a village fountain and typical traditional village life. On warm days, guests of the restaurants like to sit on the square, enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and sometimes talk and laugh late into the night. The bells of the village church in the immediate vicinity strike every quarter of an hour and often ring.

 

The studio is about 45m2 in size and is located on the 1st floor, directly above the clothing store on the ground floor. There is a bedroom with a queen-size bed and a living room with a kitchenette and a sofa bed for 1-2 more people (children, a single adult or a couple). The bathroom with toilet and shower is only accessible from the bedroom. From most of the windows in the living room, you can see the diverse life on the square in front of the town hall. The structure of the house is reminiscent of the Middle Ages. The ceilings and doors are low, as was common in traditional houses in the Appenzellerland. The interior has been carefully restored in the traditional style. It is one of the few houses in the area that are mostly furnished as they used to be, but still have modern amenities and comforts. For city people and people from other countries, this is a romantic experience. The comfort is simple, functional and convenient. Some important parts of the apartment that make our lives more comfortable are new, e.g. bathroom, mattresses, bedding, towels, internet access, kitchen, etc. The windows face north and west.

Attractive additional offers from three nights

For stays of 3 nights or more, the Appenzell Holiday Card is issued free of charge and a free return train ride is provided from your place of residence in Switzerland, from the airport or from the Swiss border train station. These offers are very popular and considerably reduce the price of your stay.

Number of guests

The holiday flat offers space for 1-4 guests (e.g. 1-2 single adults or two couples or a couple with 1-2 children). Four-legged companions are also welcome here.
If there are more guests, additional rooms can be rented in the house or in a guest house nearby. The kitchen and the table in the living room of the apartment is big enough for up to six persons.

Environment

The train station, parking lots, restaurants, stores, museums, indoor swimming pool, sports facilities, children's playgrounds, nature and other sights can be reached within 0 to 10 minutes on foot.
The nearby mountains can be reached within half an hour by train, bus or car. They offer magnificent views of areas in Switzerland, Austria and Germany. Hiking, cycling tours, train and cable car rides, visiting museums, swimming and many other sporting activities, reading, listening to music, meeting people and much more are other attractive activities on offer in the area.

Prices and general conditions

Prices in CHF (excl. visitor's tax) for the holiday apartment per night Price per night for a stay of 1 night, of 2-3 nights etc. (except during big festivities in our region):

 To these prices must be added:

One four-legged friend CHF 10.00/night
Visitor's tax: CHF 2.50 per person and night
Final cleaning: CHF 40 (This fee will be waived if the apartment is left tidy, swept clean, free of stains and with clean dishes returned to their original location. We take care of the wet cleaning of the toilet, bathroom and floors, as well as the disposal of the separately placed waste).

Included in the rental price: Bed linen, kitchen and bath towels, internet access.

Breakfast is not included, as this is a holiday apartment with its own kitchen. So you can bring your own food and buy bread in one of the many restaurants and bakeries in the immediate vicinity.

Check-in time is from 15 hrs. Check-out is until 11:00 am. Please let us know your arrival time 1 day in advance so that we can hand over the keys and other documents. Self check-in is also possible by arrangement.

The guests can lock the apartment. All rooms in the holiday flat (living room, kitchen, WC, shower, balcony) are not shared by other people of the house.

For your booking, the exact address and a deposit of half of the prize is usually required. We will inform you by e-mail about the details for the bank transfer.

Cancellation of a booking up to three weeks before the day of arrival is free of charge. A shorter-term cancellation amounts to half of the rental price, but at least a daily fee, maximum 6 daily fees.

General house rules:
We ask our guests to respect the characteristics of the historic wooden house.
Smoking is not allowed anywhere in the house except in front of the entrance. Parties and events are not allowed.
For the protection of the other guests and residents of the house, silence must be observed between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m., when music and conversations must be kept at a low volume.
